*notgeld – non paper, not Band 9

Collectors will be well aware of notgeld that were issued on other materials rather than paper (notes) and metal (coinage). There is already Grabowski’s Band 9 (Notgeld der besonderen Art) that covers off most linen, velvet, silk, aluminium foil and leather pieces but there are a whole lot of others, not mentioned in that book. So excluding metal coinage and the pieces covered off in Band 9, here is a list that we can hopefully slowly add to, over the coming months and years.

I won’t be including all the pieces from a set but hopefully will show some nice examples. The first section shows pieces that are all from 1914 – 1923/4.

(There is a further section at the bottom, for pieces which date from the later notgeld period of around 1947).
