A Happy New Year for 2026, to everyone!!
I hope this coming year brings luck, enjoyment and happiness to all collectors and that the collecting bug remains strong and passionate. I hope new friendships are made between collectors so that knowledge can be spread throughout our fascinating hobby. I hope more and more collectors join our GNCC notgeld club so that our very specific area of collecting, continues to grow.

Last month I wrote about a fantastic collection of kapselgeld that were being sold by Teutoburger in Germany, with a starting price of only 6000 euros. I couldn’t believe the starting price was so low for such a collection which had so many scarce, rare and quality pieces. (In fact, I had actually valued the collection and advised the seller to approach Teutoburger to sell them.) The lot ended with a hammer price of 42,000 euros! A good and respectable amount for such a collection. I think the seller will end up with around 34,000 euros after costs which is a fair and honest amount for the collection and exactly where my valuation was. I’m relieved that the hammer price was realistic to market expectations and predictions.
For Christmas, I was able to add these 2 verkehrsausgaben specimen pieces from Mindelheim, to my collection. As both are uncatalogued, they are super additions which I am very pleased with. With the notes from Mindelheim, be aware of the different colours and face values, dates, signatures and the different wordings of either ‘Stadtrat’ or ‘Stadtmagistrat’:
