Hopefully for everyone, the notgeld collecting is going well and you have all been able to add some nice, interesting pieces to your collections. As your collections grow and improve, the enjoyment one gets from that, is a super feeling. I always remember when I went from my first album to my second, as I purchased more and more notes. That grew, so that over many years, I had over 40 albums full of lovely notgeld! As one of my sayings go, it is good for life to have a great hobby. The more ‘better’ pieces I acquired, the more happier I was with my collection.
Some of you may have seen that the homepage now has 2 pictures for the ‘notgeld of the month‘. I thought I would add it, to improve the overall visual of the homepage for regular visitors. I think it is always nice to see new and different notes being displayed. Often, these notes I choose to depict, will have specific articles which cover the graphics or other interesting points about the issues………but not always. The new articles can quickly be seen from the homepage – scroll down a little and look at the right. Most contain some very interesting information about the specific note or topic being discussed. (If you don’t have access to all the hundreds of notgeld articles, please do think about joining my notgeld club, the GNCC.)
I have bought several notgeld recently and still await the delivery of more pieces I have ordered. It is wonderful to open a well-packaged letter/envelope that arrives here. Sometimes, I can’t remember what I ordered until the note is actual in my hand. Then I can start doing a bit of research and comparing the note to others I may have or ones that are documented elsewhere. Only by really studying a note closely, might one pick up attributes about it that may not have been gained by a more casual or brief glance.
Here is a piece from Witten I recently acquired, with a printing plate error, I think. An article about these types has just been published on the website which contains a lot of very interesting information. GNCC members, please read at your leisure……..
HAPPY COLLECTING!!
