TGM (Feb. 2022)

Hopefully, it has been a good start to the year and everyone has been able to acquire or obtain new additions for their notgeld collections. Already, a couple of letters have arrived here with some very interesting examples for me to research, scan and write articles about. Soon to be published, are a few more topical listings of notged that I hope you will all find interesting…….watch this space, as they say! As always, if you know of any notgeld that I have not mentioned in my listings, postings and articles, please drop me an email and I will add them in of course. Over time, the listings will surely become better and better…..maybe even ‘complete’……..

I am always trying to make friendly acquaintances with similar or like-minded notgeld collectors, so if that sounds like you……… and you are not currently a member of my German Notgeld Collectors Club, please do sign up. My GNCC is a fabulous way to learn more about your notgeld and to take your collecting hobby to the next stage. I am sure you will learn a lot from all the current members we have here. We would love you to join our group and discuss your notgeld with us all : what types you like to collector the most, which types you have a real passion for and anything else about your collecting or collection that might be good to know. What is your favourite notgeld and what is your most precious example etc etc?? No way of collecting is wrong and every collector can collect what he or she wants and also in any way that he or she decides is best for them……so don’t be shy in stepping forward. If we can learn from each other, our knowledge becomes greater.

It has to be said though, there are some horrible and very unfriendly people out there, so be careful who you listen to and who you trust on the subject of notgeld. The web can be a pit fall for the unwary collector, unfortunately, with dodgy sellers, dodgy dealers and dodgy information being passed about on other banknote forums. Some collectors out there it seems, are very awkward and sometimes arrogant and even rude. They want everyone to see emergency money issues from their perspective but they are closed to listening to other ideas or thoughts. I’ve learnt that, over years of collecting of course but you have to ignore those types of people, especially those that think they know it all : there seem to be plenty of them out there!

So for the new year, why not join my very friendly GNCC and make your notgeld collecting hobby a great and fun one to be involved in? Here, we all learn together in a very friendly environment, as we all know by pooling our knowledge, it encourages others to join in. For me personally, years and years of collecting and researching notgeld (nearly 50 years now) has helped me to learn a lot about the subject but I want to learn even more, with you all. So whatever country you reside in, please do get involved here……..
