Bielefeld notgeld issued on silk

Bielefeld 100m note with edgeing.

The above note, dated 1921, commemorates the 700 year anniversary of Bielefeld being granted ‘city’ status, having been upgraded from ‘town’ status, in 1221. Collectors may come across similar pieces, with different edgeing. You can see the German chap selling his sausages in the bottom left and nudes dancing with the devil on the right. It is a piece of stoffgeld, that is to say, money made from material, eg) linen, silk, velvet.
