Description
A really nice looking 10 million mark note from Geislingen which has an ‘anchor’ shaped cancellation mark, top right corner. This uniface piece is in ‘au-unc‘ condition and has a typed number on the reverse of ‘1553’. The bottom line states:
'Nachahmung oder Faelschung dieses Gutscheines wird mit Zuchthaus bestraft' ('Imitation or counterfeiting of this voucher will be punished with imprisonment.')
It wasn’t just imprisonment though : “Zuchthaus” would be more like a “re-education facility”. It was more a penitentiary or a house of correction. It was a place for punitive imprisonment, often with forced labor.
