Description

A beautiful note issued on green paper with a face value of  20 Zentner Roggen (20 hundredweight of rye). The note was issued in Neubrandenburg by the ‘Mecklenburg-Strelitzer Landbund’ and it dates from ’20. Nov. 1923′. The piece is in ‘au-unc’ condition (but it does have its top left uppermost corner missing) and it has a circular stamp mark and a hand-written signature (‘Braun’) under the 3 printed ones. This means that the note was actually issued. It is the largest face value note that I have ever had of these types).

(wertbestaendige – fixed value – the note would still be worth xxlbs of rye in, for example, 3 weeks time, irrespective of the inflation rate). Only around 1/8th of all wertbestaendige issues were for an actual commodity! This would be a great addition for your notgeld collection……………a very scarce piece which catalogues under Lindman – N005b3, with a catalogue value of 120 euros or 80 euros in used condition(2008)  Please see scans which show front and back of the banknote. As the small corner is missing, I have priced the banknote accordingly I think.
