Issued in Rath by the ‘Mannesmannroehren-Werken’ (Mannesmann Pipeworks) and undated but dating from 1918-1921 as per catalogue, this 5m piece is very interesting indeed!
This fascinating example of an 1918-1921 ‘grossgeld’ notgeld issue, is both interesting and actually tragic, as the text on the back of the piece explains – the company is having to give out payday vouchers to their workers because of the lack of cash for their paypackets. The note is in ‘used but good’ condition, as it has been folded in half at some stage.
