Sonneberg – scarce uncatalogued cancelled piece!

Sonneberg – scarce uncatalogued set of 1 piece. (The ‘usual’ (not cancelled) piece catalogues under  Lm.1212.2 / Gr/Mehl-1242.1a.) This scarce piece, which has a serial number on it and a large circular cancellation punched hole mark, is in ‘au-unc’ condition as is usual for these types (serienscheine). The large ‘file punched’ cancellation has left some tears around the circular edge but this is only due to the file-punch mark itself. Complete set of 1! Please see scan which shows the front and the back of the note. (The scan of the ‘usual’ uncancelled piece is only for reference – you are purchasing the scarce uncatalogued cancelled piece here).

I am now assigning it a catalogue reference of Lm.1212.3 (with serial and hole-punch cancelled).

These cancelled pieces are not catalogued so I believe they were unknown to Lindman. A little research of mine shows that it could be that serial numbers 6600 – 6700 could all be cancelled pieces, possibly? To date, (over 50 years of collecting) I haven’t seen a lower serial number than ‘6605’ or a higher serial number than ‘6665’ with cancellation. Indeed, I have only ever seen a very few number of these cancelled pieces. A scarce and great addition for any notgeld collection !
