Description

An anti-semitic piece of German notgeld issued in Neugraben-Hausbruch, showing a ‘profiteer’ and dated 15.8.1921-31.3.1922 (The man with the bowler hat and typical Jewish characteristics is meant to allegorize a profiteer – in these times the Jews were the typical profteers.). This note appears in my anti-Semitic notgeld book ‘Tarnished Gems’. The note shows two shady types, the one on the left being a typical image of a cigar-chewing “fat cat” with his fur-lined coat, striped suit trousers and spats, his wife in a limousine with a uniformed chauffeur. The other man is a more dressed down and unshaven character.  The text around the image reads :

‘Germany’s salvation? To the gallows with all racketeers!”
