Muenchen – baekerpfennige 2pf (Frz. Aschenbrenner)

Description

Muenchen ‘baeckerpfennig’ – ‘Frz. Aschenbrenner’ 2pf piece. This uncommon uniface small sized piece is made of pink card and is in ‘very good’ condition, as is normal with these types. These pieces are true pieces of private verkehrsausgaben notgeld. These types are generally known as ‘baekerpfennige’ and were predominantly issued by shop-keepers and bakers located in Muenchen (Munich). Undated but dating around 1920, the piece  catalogues under T-4680.0035.02 Please see scan which shows the front.

Every good notgeld collection, in my opinion, should have at least a couple of examples of these ‘baekerpfennige’ notgeld in them. The small face values allowed the shop keepers to go about their daily businesses, when there was a lack of small change in the economy.
