Perleberg – 50pf OVP (50,000 mark) note ‘3’ Uncatalogued!!

Description

Perleberg – a very scarce and previously uncatalogued 50pf OVP (50,000 mark) note ‘3’! – originally a 50pf serienscheine from 1921, this piece has been overprinted to 50,000 mark in 1923! The piece is in ‘used but good’ condition – please see scans which show front and back.

The overprint states ‘The city treasury will pay for this voucher until 30 September 1923.’ The overprint is dated ’16. 8. 23’ and is signed by Erich ‘Moll’, the Perleberg city Magistrate / Mayor and , I believe, Wilhelm ‘Kubeck’ the city ‘Stadtsekretaer’  / municipal treasury administrator??

These overprinted serienscheine are highly collectable and make great scarcer additions to any collection. These pieces catalogue at 250 euros in the PUZ (only note ‘6’ is catalogued) and my ‘REVALUED GEMS’ catalogue, where all the 6 x 50pf notes are now catalogued. This is probably a ‘one-off’ opportunity for someone to own a notgeld that most collectors will never have.
