Portugese (10 centavos) notgeld issued by ‘Hospital de S.Jose’.
The phrase, “SE ES AMIGO DO BEM INUTILISA ESTA CEDULA” on the back translates as, “If you are a friend of the ‘good’ destroy this note”. This issue was used as small change at the hospital. If you obeyed the clause, and destroyed the note, you were in effect giving the hospital a donation.
